Up In the Air

Up In the Air, 2009

I finally got around to watching this one today and found it to be enjoyable. The story follows Clooney's character who has basically built a lifestyle that completely disconnects him from any meaningful relationship. In his older age is he going to come to terms with his choices, or perhaps are they going to be validated. Interesting to see a character that is brought to the fork in the road, and is set to make a life changing decision, face certain realities. Is it too late for him?

Clooney was excellent as was Anna Kendrick. Who knew she could act? I've seen her in the Twilight movies with Jessica, which are abysmal pieces of garbage that I wouldn't recommend anyone watch, ever!

You have in this film between the two aforementioned characters a young woman set to shape her life full of youthful ambition, and a grouchy man in the prime of his corporate life. The two work for a company that is hired to fire employees of other companies. Clooney sees the need for personal interaction, while Anna is introducing a new streamlined format through voice chat to cut company cost. This grounds Clooney, who before now has been flying around the country daily to these companies to do their dirty work. This grounding is the catalyst to his characters change.

Up in the Air is an interesting look at the human condition, and rings home in our current economic situation.
